The NSW Child Death Review Team (the Team) was established under Part 7A of the Commission for Children and Young People Act 1998 (the Act). The purpose of the Child Death Review Team is to help prevent or reduce the number of deaths in NSW of children and young people aged 0-17 years.

The Child Death Review Team (the Team, CDRT) with funding from the NSW Government, undertook a research project into incidents of SUDI to consolidate existing knowledge of unsafe sleeping environments; determine current parental practices in New South Wales in relation to modifiable risk factors that contribute to SUDI.
