Under Section 13 of the Community Services (Complaints, Reviews and Monitoring) Act 1993 (CS CRAMA), we can conduct a review of the circumstances, welfare, status, and progress of an individual child or group of children in out-of-home care. Under CS CRAMA, a child includes any person under the age of 18.
We have commenced an inquiry under section 11(1)(e) of the Community Services (Complaints, Reviews and Monitoring Act) 1993 (CS CRAMA) into children and young people in the care of the Minister absent from their authorised Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) placements.
This has replaced our group in care review under section 13 of CS CRAMA into this issue.
The Inquiry will focus on:
a. factors that contribute to children not being in their authorised ITC placements; and
b. the impact this has on their safety, risk and wellbeing.
This Inquiry will seek to involve and hear from key stakeholders on this issue, including seeking to hear directly from children and young people.
We will be releasing more information about the Inquiry (including how stakeholders can contribute) soon. Please contact us on awayfromplacement.inquiry@ombo.nsw.gov.au if you would like any more information.

We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and pay our respects to all Elders past and present, and to the children of today who are the Elders of the future.
