Our structure

Our office is structured around the work that we do.

As we operate in a complex and changing environment, we have to be able to effectively respond to a range of challenges. Having a flexible structure allows us to respond to emerging priorities but, at the same time, continue to deal with the day to day work of the office.

In 2009 we implemented a major restructure following the departure of a number of senior staff and in response to ongoing budgetary pressures. Our current structure better reflects changes to the public service following the creation of a number of super agencies.

Our organisation chart 

We have the following three business units - all headed by a Deputy Ombudsman:

  • police and compliance
  • human services branch
  • public administration

In addition, we have a strategic projects division and the corporate branch, both headed by a director (our executive).
