Art of negotiation
Workshop outline:
This workshop provides a thorough grounding in negotiation skills and strategies, and participants are provided with ample opportunities to practise these. The workshop focuses on interest-based negotiation. The day is structured around a series of trainer inputs followed by group exercises and discussions. Participants are provided with a framework within which they can plan and successfully carry out negotiations.
During the workshop we examine:
- the 'why' and the 'how' of preparing for a negotiation
- how to consider a negotiation from many angles
- how to avoid feeling disempowered
- the importance of the opening statement
- getting personal needs clear as well as taking into account the other party's needs
- successful communication in negotiation
- relationship building
- rapport building
- creative thinking
- closing a negotiation successfully
- effectively managing unexpected negotiations.
